Shanahan – HAWKD [May 12 – Deal Records]
American DJ/producer Shanahan is looking to capitalize on everything that 2014 has to offer, since he has been on a tear in terms of releasing good music. He is fresh off the release of “Life Of Scars” on Armada‘s Cryon Recordings, and he was able to release “RIFTN” on JoeySuki‘s Dubbed Records earlier in the year. Now, he takes his talents to another Armada sublabel, this time Deal Records, for his third major label release of 2014. His latest effort goes under the name of “HAWKD,” and is set to be released on May 12.
After “Life Of Scars” focused more on the lighter side of Shanahan‘s production spectrum, as “HAWKD” can easily be considered a purely electro production. The melody features a futuristic sound to it, made up of synths that are influenced by the currently-recovering acid house sound. The way the track build up is quite simple, as a series of snare rolls is added to the already-existing melody. After a crazy vocal sample, the track drops into a pounding, bassline driven sequence that will give the subwoofers at any venue a workout. Mixed in as well are a few occasional plucks and wobbles as added intricacies throughout the drop.
The latest track from Shanahan will hit Beatport on May 12. Enjoy!
