Audien & Matthew Koma – Serotonin [June 16 – Spinnin’ Records]

For his latest song, Nate Rathbun also known as Audien has teamed up with popular lyricist Matthew Koma for “Serotonin”. Much like his other songs, you hear that distinct signature sound that many people fell in love with (including me). His newest song features the great chord progression that comes from his music and a melody that you can’t help from getting stuck in your head. One thing that I felt was different from most of his songs was how the beginning seemed like there was too much going on with many different sounds hitting you at once which left me a bit surprised. While I still love the new song from the young producer, it did seem like he might have tried a slightly different approach to this song. Don’t get me wrong, it still have the infectious melody that all of Audien‘s songs have and great chord progression. The breakdown around 2:15 does sound similar to the breakdown in a popular Cedric Gervais song yet it has a more unique twist to it that I have yet to hear. Ignoring the love I have for Audien, I still believe this is a great song. I highly recommend a listen as it almost seems like Audien put a new twist on his unique style for “Serotonin”.
