Deniz Koyu – To The Sun [Axtone Records]
Usually, the best labels will hang on to a song for months on end in order to generate the highest amount of speculation possible regarding the production. One of the most successful labels, but certainly not the most prolific, has taken this strategy with Deniz Koyu‘s “To The Sun”. It’s been about two months since label boss Axwell first dropped the track during the set in France, and since then, the tune became one of the Internet’s most sought after ID tracks while still shrouded in mystery. The latest beauty to grace Axtone Records gains it’s intrigue comes from its seemingly perfect sound and uplifting energy. There is an uncredited vocalist who performs during both breaks, and the voice matches perfectly with the overall vibe of the instrumental. Once this area of this track has worked it’s magic, the build and drop seamlessly work together, and Deniz Koyu is able to once again show his impeccable talent for producing progressive house by glueing the whole piece together with an absolutely wonderful drop. Since that first play in July, both Danny Howard and Pete Tong of BBC Radio 1 have added the tune to their setlists, and plenty of others have followed suit.
