W&W & Headhunterz – We Control The Sound [Ultra Records]

People in the industry have been blasting big-room house as having stolen too many elements of hardstyle. Solution? Just grab one of the hottest big-room duos and link them up with a pioneer in the hardstyle industry to create an actual crossover track. This crossover track follows that exact formula, putting W&W and Headhunterz under the same studio roof once more to follow up “Shocker” with “We Control The Sound”. The sophomore collaboration follows a blueprint closer to big-room, coming in at a 129 BPM, rather than the 132 of their first track. The melody is quite dynamic, and a typical hardstyle vocal sample provides a similarly energetic feel to the breakdown. The drop features a signature huge kick from W&W, but the synth line clearly has been influenced largely by Headhunterz. “We Control The Sound” largely follows this formula throughout, but there is a surprising uptempo section in the middle with a higher pitch. All in all, this tune shows the best of both worlds between big-room and hardstyle, and has proven to be a viable club banger in the sets of Firebeatz, Dyro, and Nicky Romero.
