Young Dro feat. T.I. – Shoulder Lean (Landis Remix)
When it comes to blending together genres into one coherent but banging remix, Landis seems to have covered all the bases. After taking on reggae mainstay Sean Paul‘s “Get Busy” earlier this year, the Miami native now moves onto a rework for rapper Young Dro, and his track “Shoulder Lean”. This rework begins with a smooth tempo transition from the traditional 128 BPM of bounce down to about 105 BPM for the rap section to have its true effect. As Young Dro continues his rap verses, there is a consistent sound of pounding triplet kicks and other forms of intricate percussion in the breakdown. Once the buildup begins, it is easy to feel that the tempo of the track begins to rise as the focus turns from rap to electro. A vocal sample demands, “let me see you bounce,” and Landis obliges generously, as his Miami bounce sound rocks a perfectly bouncy bassline with traditional big-room since serving as a partner in crime on the top line.
