Martin Garrix Takes Ex-Manager and Spinnin’ Records To Court
It has been pretty rough going for the Martin Garrix vs. Spinnin’ Records fallout. It has been reported by Dutch news source De Telegraaf that the young hitmaker has decided to sue his former manager, Eelko van Kooten. The two sides had a highly-publicized war of words where Martin Garrix claimed he was forced to sign the rights of his tracks over to the label at a young age, while the label and his ex-management has maintained they did not break protocol in any way. Apparently, there was a pretty heated argument over the issue between Martijn Garritsen, his given name, and the staff at Spinnin’, and that was when they decided to part ways.
“From the beginning of this year I tried to get back the ownership rights of my music from Spinnin’ Records… I am extremely disappointed that the discussions have not led to a change in the agreements or return of the ownership rights.”

A previous statement on behalf of Spinnin’, MusicAllstars, and Eelko van Kooten stated that the label had “confirmed transfer of ownership,” but that “Martijn decided to unilaterally end the cooperation as of now.”
Neither side has released a comment on the issue, and it is likely that the scenario will play out in the Dutch court system over time.
