Every summer, there’s a hit that comes from somewhere no one expects. The 2016 edition is called “What We Started”.

There are a ton of artists responsible for this song. Don Diablo, Steve Aoki and Lush & Simon all combined their talents in the studio. “What We Started” also features BullySongs on vocals. It has been floating around on the Internet ever since EDC Las Vegas.

The most notable surprise about this song is the genre. “What We Started” slows down to a 90 BPM, emulating some of the summer’s current chart-toppers. BullySongs dominates the breakdown with his powerful voice, as he performs over a mellow instrumental. As he hits the chorus, the instrumental steps up to include intense percussion. Don Diablo, Steve Aoki and Lush & Simon did a fantastic job on the drop. It combines creatively chopped and pitched vocals on top of a grooving bassline. “What We Started” is clearly a leap outside of everyone’s comfort zone, but these artists impress with the final product.
