It feels like labels have been waiting until August to unleash highly awaited tracks, and that’s the case with this one. Protocol Recordings has kept a lid on this collaboration, “The Way Out,” between Deniz Koyu and Amba Shepherd since March of this year, but is secret no more. Deniz Koyu requires no introduction, as huge previous hits like “Bong” and “Rage” have been must-plays in the past. Amba Shepherd has a voice that dance music fans will recognize instantly, as she sang on tunes like Hardwell‘s “Apollo” and Tiësto and Moguai‘s “Real Life”. After months of waiting and rumors, their track will be released on August 17.
“The Way Out” rocks a distinct sound that is a little bit different from the usual Deniz Koyu. He has ditched the groove style in favor of full-on progressive house. The main focus of the breakdown is exactly where it should be: on the vocals of Amba Shepherd. The instrumental mellows out significantly while she delivers yet another fantastic vocal top line. Her vocals blend perfectly into the progression of the track, as she seamlessly provides a transition from breakdown to drop. The drop has a powerful bassline to it, and the perfect lead synth to match.
This long-awaited collaboration between Deniz Koyu and Amba Shepherd will be released via Protocol Recordings on August 17.
