New festival celebrating independent global broadcasting: The Cause FM – New Frequency
This summer, The Cause launches The Cause FM: New Frequency, a new festival-scale event and broadcast platform celebrating independent radio, community-led broadcasters and underground music cultures from across the globe.
Landing on Saturday 25th July at The Cause Docklands, the multi-stage event will see the venue’s full site activated for one of only a handful of large-scale flagship shows hosted by The Cause team each year, bringing together international broadcast platforms, local communities and forward-thinking selectors for a day and night of music, collaboration and connection.
Built around the idea of independent broadcasting as a vital force within contemporary music culture, New Frequency invites a hand-picked selection of global radio stations, streamers and community platforms to co-curate and host their own spaces across the venue, each reflecting the distinct sound, identity and ethos of their respective scenes.
Initial partners include: Refuge Worldwide (Germany), Keep Hush (UK), Seoul Community Radio (South Korea), Potato Head x Head Stream (Indonesia) & Voices (UK)
Across indoor and outdoor stages, each platform takeover will feature specially curated lineups, residents, guests and local artists, spotlighting the diversity and international reach of contemporary underground music
culture.
Extending beyond the physical event itself, every takeover across the festival will also be captured and broadcast via a dedicated online channel and website, allowing audiences around the world to tune into the event in real time. The project marks the first chapter in a wider broadcasting vision from The Cause team, with further streamed events and international collaborations all in the pipeline for The Cause’s new broadcast platform planned later this year.
Long celebrated as one of London’s most community-focused independent venues, The Cause has built its reputation on championing grassroots culture, emerging talent and inclusive dancefloors. Beginning life eight years ago as a single-room DIY space inside a former mechanics workshop, the project has steadily evolved into one of the capital’s most respected independent music institutions, now welcoming thousands of people each week across its multi-space Docklands home.
The lineup for The Cause FM – New Frequency will remain largely under wraps for now, but expect a mix of genre defying DJs, community champions, breakthrough artists and one-off collaborations that reflect the global spirit of independent broadcasting, with further details to be revealed alongside the event’s broadcast schedule in the lead up.
