Solomun, Inez (DE) – Raider on the Storm [Diynamic]
Solomun releases ‘Raider on the Storm’, a new single featuring German singer Inéz, out now on all streaming platforms. The track follows ‘Rumpta’, his collaboration with Skrillex that became one of the most celebrated electronic releases of the summer. The song made its live debut back in February, during two sold-out nights at London’s Alexandra Palace, when Inéz joined Solomun on stage and gave the crowd a first taste of what was coming.
The two are no strangers. Inéz first lent her voice to Solomun’s ‘Tuk Tuk’ as part of ÄTNA, a 25-million-streaming highlight from Solomun’s 2021 album Nobody Is Not Loved. ‘Raider of the Storm’ picks up that thread and pulls it somewhere new. It’s an electronic production wrapped around Inéz’s unmistakable vocal presence, atmospheric and grounded in equal measure, built for the kind of moment that lingers well after the lights come up.
‘Raider of the Storm’ opens with Solomun building the groove on his own before Inéz comes in, and the two build together from there into a major drop. It’s the kind of slow, patient build that’s become a signature of his sets and productions alike, and it’s easy to hear why this pairing keeps working. Where Solomun’s productions tend to leave space, Inéz knows exactly how to fill it, and the chemistry between them, first heard on ‘Tuk Tuk,’ feels even more locked in here.
Inéz brings a rare range to the collaboration. A vocalist who moves easily between pop, hip-hop and electronic music, she reached a wider audience as the voice behind Peter Fox’s ‘Zukunft Pink’, a track with over 150 million streams. She’s also one half of the avant-pop duo ÄTNA, known for a sound that blurs genre lines just as easily on festival stages as it does in smaller clubs, or alongside some of electronic music’s biggest names. Her ear for melody and style-blurring toplines makes her a natural fit for Solomun’s world, and ‘Raider of the Storm’ proves it.
