Oxia – Domino (Ares Carter Remix) [Armada]

The New York producer takes on the 2006 classic for Armada Music, following a remix from Space 92 earlier this year. Twenty years after its original release, Oxia’s ‘Domino’ remains one of electronic music’s most recognisable records. Its triplet synth melody has travelled across generations of dancefloors, while the track has amassed more than 150 million Spotify streams across its versions. Now New York producer Ares Carter brings it into his own indie house world with an official remix on Armada Music.

Carter’s starting point was the element that makes ‘Domino’ so difficult to revisit: that unmistakable melody. He worked through several versions before finding a bassline that could sit beneath it and give the remix its own foundation. The result preserves the original’s central hook while placing Carter’s production at the heart of the record.

“Being asked to remix OXIA’s ‘Domino’ is a true honor. It’s such a legendary record, so I really took my time with it,” says Carter. “I went through several versions before finding a bassline that sat right underneath that iconic triplet synth melody, but once it clicked, the rest of the remix almost wrote itself. I wanted to stay true to what made the original so special while bringing it into the current era in my own way.”
