Saturday Spotlight 006: Max Vangeli – CODE RADIO 154

Welcome back to Saturday Spotlight! This week Max Vangeli dishes out CODE RADIO 154!

At the top of the mix is the Jack Wins remix to “Hotter Than Hell“. This is a great upbeat song with nice bass and smooth synths that sets the tone for the next hour. The vocals are also energetic which adds to the effect of the song. Continuing the beat is “Tell Me” from Halogen & Niko The Kid. This carries that heavy bass over from the previous song, but it relies more on the piano to carry this one. That piano succeeds very well. The vocals change octaves frequently which keeps the song moving in different directions. Max certainly is starting a theme of strong bass with his first few songs.

Starting off his Tried and Tested section is “Raise Your Hands Up“, which dives down hard on the drop. If this heavy drop doesn’t get you going in some way, I don’t know what will. But it doesn’t stop there. “Scratchin” takes the mix even further and really gets the pump going. It’s good a solid beat, and has a catchy synth cut on top. “She Bad” by Delayers adds a nice twist with a sweet drop and nice rap. This definitely gives the mix more character.

First on his Brand New On Code Radio section is “Final Call” by Florian Picasso. This is always a great song and has a brand new remix pack out. This takes the mix down a new path as it moves away from the hard drop and enters a more warpy mood. The Dave Winnel remix of “Follow” keeps the synths going, and is accompanied by a bouncy bass and nice drums. “Saints & Sinners” is a very nice song appearing towards the end of the mix. It has lovely vocals and all of the parts fit together very well.  Ending the mix is is “Never Go Home“, which has nice chorus vocals, and a very pleasant drop. The drop has a nice flute sound melody that is just calming and brings all of the energy from the mix back together.

I would have to say that my favorite song in the mix is the Galactic Marvl remix of “Fakin It“. Besides the soft vocals, the drop contains something very interesting. It combines a very low vocal with bright and beautiful synths, resulting in a very nice contrast. The beat is also very strong, making the sound as a whole very large.
