Julian Calor Unveils Collaborative Music/Art Project Titled “Involve”
With an album already under his belt at age 22, Julian Calor embarks on a unique project titled “Involve”.
Like the title implies, this project is meant to be interactive. The Dutchman has posted a few different drafts of songs on his social media accounts in recent days, asking fans which he should finish. “‘Involve’ allows me the chance to work directly with the fans, but in a unique way,” he said. “I get to find out what they really want to hear from my music and also what I want to make for their listening pleasure.”
There are multiple facets to the project as well. Julian Calor will work alongside young Dutch design artist, Sander Overmeer. Together, they will be creating visual art with a one-of-a-kind soundtrack. The final steps of the production process will be livestreamed, allowing fans to understand what goes into each track.
The first finished track is called “Liberation”. The production really shows how well-rounded Mr. Calor is in the studio. He jumps well outside his house music comfort zone with a track that hits hard with a trap bassline. Experimentation runs wild on this track, but Julian Calor clearly possesses the skill to master it. Grab it as a free download!
I want to show people I’m not just one-dimensional as an artist. With so many DJ’s/Producers just regurgitating the same kind of sound and the scene becoming saturated with similar sounding tracks and not really moving forward, I wanted to take a step back from it all and undertake a project that allowed me to express myself freely for a while.
