Alan Fitzpatrick – Take Control ft. Mylo Fitzpatrick [We Are Brave]

Industry heavyweight Alan Fitzpatrick teams up with an unlikely special guest for the first offering on his We Are The Brave label this year.

‘Take Control’ features the creative genius of Mylo Fitzpatrick, Alan’s 10-year-old son. The UK lockdown provided new opportunities for Fitzpatrick as he found himself taking a lead role in home schooling with his kids. Creative lessons paved the way for some studio time and Mylo, keen to emulate his dad, found himself creating loops and patterns on his iPad. “He played me a little synth and drum loop he called ’I Sound Like My Dad’ which caught my ear, so I exported it and built on it,” adds Alan.

‘Take Control’ powers into life from the get-go. Kettle drum kicks and a rolling low end are paced by claps and a spritely swung hat line. Melodics build the tension to the first break where a female voice tells us to ‘let the music take control’. Fully responsive, nuanced acid and far away trance pads act as a brief oasis of calm before the final drop explodes from the speakers.

“It gives me a great sense of happiness and pride to share my passion with Mylo and watch him learn. He has such a great appreciation for music production and techno, so doing this track as a collaboration just felt right. I think it’s a damn good loop!” – Alan
