For three decades, Shy FX has been a defining force in the UK underground, innovating at the intersection of jungle, drum & bass, grime and dancehall. He has remained at the forefront of the scene since his 1992 debut ‘Jungle Love’, hitting heights such as the 1994 ragga jungle anthem ‘Original Nuttah’ with MC UK Apache, ‘Shake UR Body’ with T-Power, and founding the Digital Soundboy label. He has produced and remixed for artists including Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Lily Allen, Chase & Status, Sam Smith and many more.
Now, Shy FX brings his curated vision to the Brighton seafront for a day-long event full of serious talent and forward-thinking sounds. With sets running from 2pm through to 10:30pm, this is a full-spectrum reflection of the culture he’s helped shape.
The lineup is a clear statement of intent. Spotlight open proceedings, with the Brighton-based all-female collective stepping up for a special EmCo b2b Rach set that reflects the city’s grassroots energy from the outset. Skalah follows with a selection of originals and unreleased dubplates, pushing the new wave of grime and dubstep.
Clipz steps in next, bringing serious pedigree across both drum & bass and UK bass. Known for his work under the Redlight alias and his long-standing influence in the scene, his sets balance underground credibility with direct dancefloor impact. Breakage continues the momentum. Originally signed to Digital Soundboy, he bridges the soulful depths of drum & bass with the weight of dubstep, bringing a sound that remains as relevant now as ever.
Sexy Lady Massive take things further with their high-energy, multi-genre approach, already proven at Boomtown and All Points East, where their sets have built a reputation for impact, unpredictability and real crowd connection. Next up, ahadadream blends UK Funky, Amapiano, GQOM and Kuduro into a percussive club sound supported by Fred Again, Four Tet and Peggy Gou, shaping a global-facing style that continues to cut through across both underground and crossover spaces.
Conducta follows with his contemporary take on UKG, including his chart-dominating collaboration with AJ Tracey, setting the pace as the day moves into its final stretch. As the sun drops, Shy FX closes from 9pm with a set built to move the entire beach.
Shy FX in the open air, backed by a lineup that spans generations and styles, sets the tone for a standout moment in Brighton’s summer calendar. This event is part of Central Park On Brighton Beach, a six-week series taking over the Black Rock site from 11th June to 19th July. Tickets are on sale now from www.entercentralpark.com, priced from £29 + b/f.
