Creamfields Champions Change With Expanded Cleanfields Sustainability Campaign
Pepsi Max presents Creamfields delivers on its promise to become cleaner and greener, revealing the results of an expanded Cleanfields sustainability campaign. The beating heart of the initiative is to inspire festivalgoers to take responsibility and build a more environmentally friendly future for live events. The Cleanfields campaign, which launched in 2024, returned even bigger and better last year. Living by the motto ‘Our Party, Our Planet,’ organisers stepped up their mission to make real difference, proudly spreading the message with on-site activations, volunteer drives for the Cleanfields Crew and a desire to shift specific festival attitudes and behaviours.
The festival amplified its Cleanfields efforts with not one but two dedicated campsites, attracting approximately 2,500 campers and thousands more via footfall. Customers were again asked to sign the Cleanfields Pledge: to travel consciously, only bring what they need, keep the campsite clean and take their tents and camping gear home with them.
A physical Cleanfields Hub was established, featuring fun interactive games such as Slam Dunk Ur Junk, Pack-Down Ur Tent and Litter-Ally. Revellers could also earn Recycling Rewards for doing their bit for the cause – with prizes ranging from free festival tickets to drink tokens – and partake in surveys and sustainability discussions.
This determination to educate, empower and encourage guests to join the Cleanfields movement paid off with 1,255 Cleanfields Pledge signups, 55 Cleanfields Crew volunteers, 308 Recycling Rewards (an increase of 12.4%), hundreds of kilos of food collected at donation stations and over 900 volunteer engagement hours on site.
It is onwards and upwards at this year’s festival, returning to Daresbury, Cheshire over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, from Thursday 27 through to Sunday 30August. The main objective, again, is to encourage and incentivise festivalgoers through a prize draw to take their tents and equipment home – a useful tent-buying guide can be found at www.creamfields.com – and to donate leftover food to the Cleanfields Food Banks.
As part of the wider sustainability strategy – a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 – Creamfields reduced fuel consumption in 2025 by 5% and introduced hybrid generators, supplying renewable energy.
Additional improvements included a 25% reduction in single-use plastic sales across bars and traders, down to only 5.6% of drinks vessels used overall, a 12% decrease in total water consumption, more than 400 vacuum toilets to reduce chemical use, a 9% increase in food traders offering vegan and vegetarian options and a 44.7% reduction in waste within the Cleanfields campsites.
Creamfields are committed to growing Cleanfields year on year and encouraging their festival family to adopt more environmentally responsible habits – sign up to the Cleanfields Pledge here! For more information, please visit www.creamfields.com/cleanfields.
