Josh Baker – Breaking Point EP [You&Me]
Josh Baker returns to his YOU&ME imprint with the surprise release of his four-track ‘Breaking Point’ EP, arriving at a landmark moment in the Manchester DJ/producer’s biggest year to date.
The release lands as Baker prepares for his biggest UK festival weekend to date, with a performance on the brand new Gallery Stage at Reading & Leeds Festival before heading to Creamfields, where he’ll play second only to Calvin Harris on the Arc Stage.
Title track ‘Breaking Point’ is highly anticipated amongst fans, driven by a hypnotic synth lead that has become a standout moment on the Amnesia Terrace throughout Josh’s ‘YOU&ME’ Ibiza residency. Built for the peak-time dancefloor, the instrumental has quickly established itself as one of the most sought after records in Josh’s sets, with its driving production and instantly recognisable lead making it a defining sound of his summer.
‘Over You’, a collaboration featuring the silky, ethereal vocals of London-based artist LEILAH, has also become a key fixture in Baker’s live sets, opening major shows throughout the summer including Parklife and Belsonic in Belfast. Combining Baker’s club-focused production with LEILAH’s delicate vocals, the track sets the tone for the EP with an emotive but euphoric energy designed for big-room moments.
‘House With Acres’ featuring the inimitable voice of rapper Capo Lee has been circulating for well over a year, with Baker exploring UK garage and speed garage influences compounded by a growling bassline and Capo’s singalong bars “big money ball like lakers, get me a house with acres”. Rounding off the EP, ‘Your Star’ sees Baker team up with Anabel Englund, taking the acclaimed vocalist back towards the underground roots that defined her emergence alongside Hot Natured during the 2010s deep house movement – a scene that Baker himself grew up on.
