Now, to celebrate his return to London, for his Silverworks Island debut, we deep-div into nine career-defining releases from Tiësto, enjoy:
Delerium – Silence (featuring Sarah McLachlan) (Tiësto Remix): Tiësto’s remix of Delrium’s ‘Silence’ feat. Sarah McLachlan is for many the greatest and most influential Trance track to be produced. The track featured in his In Search of Sunrise series, and Tiësto transformed the haunting, ambient original into a global, euphoric dancefloor anthem by pairing McLachlan’s ethereal, melancholy vocals with soaring synths, driving beats, and an extended euphoric build-up.
Tiësto – Lethal Industry: Tiësto’s ‘Lethal Industry’ was originally released in 1999, pressed on just three acetate copies and it quickly became a sought-after underground collector’s item. A 6-minute 47-second track blending heavy, rhythmic basslines with a bright, hook-laden melody that contrasts perfectly with its dark industrial elements. ‘Lethal Industry’ also famously featured during Tiësto’s performance at the 2004 Athens Olympics too.
Tiësto – Suburban Train: Tiësto’s ‘Suburban Train’ is another early-2000s progressive trance anthem. It is famed for its euphoric melodies, driving baseline, and nostalgic energy. A cornerstone of the golden era of electronic dance music, the track remains heavily played in classic trance sets worldwide, whilst a vocal alternative entitled ‘Urban Train’ features vocals written and performed by Kirsty Hawkshaw.
Tiësto – Traffic: Widely classified as tech-trance, the track is built around a stripped-back, driving minimalist synth riff layered with a pounding beat. It was recorded at 136 BPM and famously features samples from Sean Deason’s 1996 techno track ‘Psykofuk’. ‘Traffic’ also achieved historic success by becoming the first instrumental song to hit No. 1 on the Dutch charts in over two decades.
Tiësto – Adagio For Strings: A legendary trance remake of Samuel Barber’s 1936 classical masterpiece. It perfectly blends emotional, melancholic orchestral melodies with a thumping, high-energy beat, creating a euphoric festival anthem that bridges classical and electronic music. It stands as a genre-defying crossover; Tiësto’s spin transformed that deep emotion into pure, unadulterated festival joy.
Tiësto feat. BT – Love Comes Again: The song is celebrated for its blend of driving trance beats and emotional, uplifting vocals detailing heartbreak and the enduring hope for love. It perfectly merges Tiësto’s melodic trance production with BT’s signature heartfelt male vocals. It became a staple in Tiësto’s live sets, helping shape the global trance scene.
Hans Zimmer – He’s a Pirate (Tiësto Remix): The remix is a high-energy dance track. It combines the epic, swashbuckling orchestral melody from Pirates of the Caribbean with Tiësto’s signature progressive and uplifting trance style. It retains the instantly recognizable heroic horn and string melodies but loops and chops them to fit a standard 4/4 electronic rhythm, this remix is tailored specifically for festival crowds and club floors.
Tiësto – Elements Of Life: Tiësto’s ‘Elements of Life’ is the epic, instrumental title track from his 2007 Grammy-nominated studio album also entitled ‘Elements Of Life’. Blending driving, trance-inducing beats with moody and cinematic builds, the 8-minute track is structured to reflect the natural forces of the elements: earth, wind, fire, and water.
Cary Brothers – Ride (Tiësto Remix): Originally produced by American indie artist Cary Brothers, the Tiësto remix is a beloved track that blends melancholic, introspective indie lyrics with an uplifting, progressive trance production. It is considered a modern classic within the electronic dance music community. The lyrics retain their heartfelt indie roots, focusing on longing, scars, and relationship devotion.
